Lord Covenant returns to his old castle and finds that he is not the first to arrive. Merlin has already gotten there and has been waiting for Covenant’s return. Covenant beseaches Merlin to tell him who he was. Merlin obliges Lord Covenant and his memories are returned to him. Covenant learns of where he went when he died, and the deal he made with the lord of that unholy place.
