The Joker impersonates an actor named Benny Springer, who owns a priceless cat named Hiawatha, but Catwoman beats him to it as she kidnaps both Springer and Hiawatha. This begins a three-way conflict between Springer, the Joker and Catwoman. The Joker manages to get information about Catwoman’s location and in the meantime, Springer manages to break free from Catwoman’s trap and escapes.

A few moments later, Catwoman is visited by Batman, but she soon discovers that he is in fact the Joker in disguise. As she prepares to confront the clownish criminal, another Joker appears and a confrontation between the real Joker and the doppelganger begins. After a long struggle, Catwoman deduces that only one person could imitate the Joker to perfection and that is Springer. In order to stop the fight, Catwoman releases Hiawatha, hoping that he would go to his master. Catwoman then knocks unconscious the man that Hiawatha choose, but she soon learns that the cat had chosen the real Joker and Springer takes the opportunity to capture Catwoman and bring the authorities to take away both criminals.

Once again, the Joker finds himself in Arkham Asylum, where the inmates are allowed to watch Mr. Springer’s latest film, The Cat and the Clown, but during the screening it is revealed that the Joker had managed to switch his own version of the movie, having spliced his face into the master film so that it will be in every print, and getting the last laugh in this caper.
