Dan and Johnny discover a mysterious church that has been closed for years but is suddenly housing a strange conflagration one that Dan’s mother is somehow a part of. The Hobgoblin attacks to purge the unworthy with Spider-Man in pursuit close behind. Ghost Rider takes the fight to Hobgoblin, remembering their previous battle (see Spider-Man #6).
